Traveling through Cambodia with a Contax G2 and Black and White Film

I finally bit the bullet and had a go at developing black and white film. Unfortunately my first try resulted in every mistake possible. Thankfully I was able to recover some of the ruined frames and on the whole I am super pleased with the results. I managed to get a Contax G2 Rangefinder camera just a few days before I left for the trip so I was shooting completely blind to the end result but credit to the mighty reputation this camera has – Every frame came out beautifully. Packing my camera bag for Cambodia – So much for traveling light!
As with past trips, I was planning to travel light. Just some clothes and camera gear in a backpack and I’m gold. But once I sit down and start to pack, I realise I’ll need more stuff if I plan to make the most of the places I visit and to capture everything on my to-do list.
It’s a balancing act where bringing certain gear means I also need to bring the peripherals for it too; If I bring the Speedlite, I also need to bring batteries, battery charger, wireless triggers and light meter. If I bring a film camera then I also need the film. But if I leave something behind, will there be a situation where I’m kicking myself for not bringing something? Continue reading
